Reina Kwon

Flute

Reina Kweon is an active performer and educator, currently serving as a flutist with the Korean Canadian Symphony Orchestra, Kindred Spirit Orchestra, and the Prime Chamber Music Society. She is also an instructor at Cardinal Carter Academy of the Arts, one of Canada’s leading arts-focused secondary schools, and the Strategy Director of the York Region Youth Orchestra, where she contributes to the organization’s growth and supports young musicians’ development. 

She actively provides private lessons and guides many students through their RCM examinations, and competitions, fostering the next generation of flutists.

Reina studied a College Conservatory of Music from the University of Cincinnati, where she honed her skills under the guidance of esteemed instructors. She also received additional training at the State University of New York with Linda Chesis, at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and at the Mozarteum International Summer Academy with Peter Lukas Graf, gaining extensive international experience. She began her musical journey at Sungshin Women’s University in South Korea, earning a Bachelor of Music in Woodwind Performance.

During her high school years, Reina made her debut as a featured soloist and appeared in two notable collaborations, including the inaugural concert of the Cheongju City Wind Orchestra and an Outstanding Graduate Concerto Performance. She has also performed actively at venues such as Kumho Art Hall and Youngsan Art Hall, invited by the Music Education Newspaper.

Reina has received numerous awards, including First Prize at the National Nanpa Music Competition, Second Prize at the Guri City Philharmonic Orchestra Competition, and Second Prize at the CBS Music Competition, establishing herself as a distinguished performer.

With a blend of passion, dedication, and artistry, Reina Kweon continues to make a significant impact on the music scene, both as a performer and a mentor.
