Biography

Babak Naseri began his musical journey at the age of six in Iran, where he studied piano under the guidance of the distinguished Maestro Mostafa Kamal Pourtorab, one of the country's foremost music scholars and educators. Recognized from an early age for his musical sensitivity, disciplined work ethic, and interpretive maturity, he developed a strong foundation in both performance and musicianship. During his teenage years, he became a member of the Junior Orchestra of the National Broadcasting of Iran, an experience that gave him valuable exposure to orchestral performance while deepening his understanding of Western classical repertoire, ensemble playing, and artistic collaboration.

Naseri continued his education in the United Kingdom and later in Canada, pursuing advanced academic studies that strengthened both his practical musicianship and scholarly understanding of music. Through extensive postgraduate studies, he cultivated a rare balance between rigorous analytical knowledge and expressive artistry. His education enabled him to integrate the philosophical depth and melodic refinement of Eastern musical traditions with the structural clarity, discipline, and sophistication of Western classical music, forming a distinctive artistic voice that has become the hallmark of his work.

Beyond his personal artistry, Naseri has been an influential contributor to the Canadian musical landscape through collaborations with choirs, orchestras, and cultural institutions.​ His scholarly depth and creative leadership have enriched numerous artistic initiatives. Among them, Collaboration with TCO Orchestra, The Rose Orchestra, Walk Together Children—a distinguished concert in which his work Glance Through Khayyam was presented. The event prominent coverage in The WholeNote Magazine. His other compositions such as Scent of Nowruz, Busy Day Etude, and others reveal distinctive musical characters—fusing Eastern melodic and rhythmic idioms with Western harmonic language and formal design.

 

As a certified teacher affiliated with the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM), he has also trained capable students, integrating his scholarly depth and pedagogical expertise into next generation of students
