Olga Poskonina
Piano and Music Theory
Ms Olga is an experienced music educator with over 20 years of teaching practice. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and Education from the Belorussian State Pedagogical University and is a Registered RCM Teacher, an Ontario Certified Teacher, and a Certified Yamaha Instructor.
Her pedagogy draws on RCM, Kodály, Kabalevsky, and Yamaha methodologies to provide structured, musically enriching instruction for students of all ages and learning profiles. Ms Olga has valuable experience in teaching diverse learners, including students with autism spectrum disorder, hearing impairment, and those identified as gifted in music. She tailors her lesson plans to address each student’s unique needs and goals, effectively nurturing their musical abilities.
Her teaching style is both vibrant and engaging and it involves music history, composition, improvisation, ear-training, solfege, sight-reading, ensemble playing, and practical skills in Accordion (which Ms Olga studied as her minor), Voice, and Drums.
Ms Olga remains committed to ongoing professional development to ensure that her students receive the highest quality instruction. Many of her students have excelled at various piano competitions or/and RCM exams, earning First-Class Honors with Distinction.
Ms Olga strives to instill a spirit of curiosity and perseverance in her students, encouraging them to embrace challenges, express themselves fully, and grow not only as musicians but also as individuals.
